ESC-EcO2 Quarantine and Pre Shipment (QPS) treatment
technique
IPPC guidelines for QPS
A growing numbers of countries require all goods imported must comply to
regulations according to the International Plant Protection Convention
(IPPC) guidelines.
The guidelines regulate the Quarantine and Pre Shipment (QPS)
regulations. QPS regulations aim to protect and minimized the risk of
spreading and/or introducing a pest plague across or within the
importing country.
The regulation includes specific treatments for wood and packaging
materials to be free from insects.
- The container with goods, wooden pallets, stow wood
materials and packaging materials is moved into the air
tight climate-controlled room.
|
-
Once the container is correctly positioned, a staff
member of ESC-EcO2 will open the doors of the container
and leave the room.
|
-
The oxygen level is reduced in order to prevent the
decay of the goods and the temperature is increased in
accordance with the international regulations.
|
-
Electronic measuring points in the chamber constantly
monitor the entire process.
|
-
The container with goods, wooden pallets, stow wood
materials and packaging materials are pest-free after 24
hours.
|
-
The container is now ready for shipment and can be
imported into the country of its destination without any
problems.

EcO2 has developed a quick and efficient EcO2 QPS TREATMENT ® technique
which meets the demands of QPS regulations. By applying this technique
we are able to treat wood and packaging materials together with the
goods.
The technique meets the temperature requirements as stated in the QPS
regulations and the low-oxygen prevents goods from oxidization.
The treatment is usually complete within 24 hours, but varies depending
on a combination of factors – including ambient temperature, humidity,
type of cargo, among others. All variables are factored into the
technique to ensure safe, effective treatments.
Wood & packaging material
The Heat Treatment Technique will be applied to wood and packaging
material according to international regulations in our airtight
climate-controlled room, based on the International Plan Protection
Convention (IPPC) and International Phytosanitary Measure (ISPM) 15
standards.
The treatment controls the temperature within a minimum of 56 degrees up
to 75 degrees Celsius, which depends on Quarantine and Pre-Shipment
regulations of designated country.
To protect goods from damage, they will be watched closely and the
temperature will be increased in a precise and carefully controlled
manner.
Food & commodities treatment
The Controlled Atmosphere Technique is applied to control pests in food
supplies and is suitable for both preventive as well as curative treatments.
This technique is based on systems from the climate technique and food
preservation. The technique is environmentally friendly, without the use of
toxic gasses and it does not leave any residue.
This technique is suitable for the treatment of consumption products, before
or after processing. Another aspect of this technique is that the pest
population does not develop a resistance to the treatment.
In Bali, the commodity will be placed in our service terminal inside our air
tight climate controlled rooms which offer a low-oxygen environment.
The humidity level will also be monitored and the treatment duration is
between 2-10 days. After treatment, the products/commodity is completely
free of insects at all stages of their life.
