Bali controlled-environment treatment facility does not use poisonous chemicals or gas for depesting offering benefits for people and the environment

INDONESIA, Feb 11, 2010 –  The Export Service Centre, a member of the non-profit  Kearny Alliance, launches Indonesia’s first environment control termite depesting facility for pre-fabricated wooden buildings for export in Denpasar, Bali.

ESC-ECO2 Indonesia, Bali’s eco-friendly treatment provider, offers its natural treatment service that provides 99.97% mortality rate to kill pests and vermin.

“Ready-to-export wooden houses may be treated in our heat and oxygen-controlled chambers either as timber, packed product or in 20 or 40-foot containers.”

Wooden prefab supplier, PT. Zihnine’s operational manager, Rakhmat Hidayat, said: “We are delighted to work with ESC-EcO2 to offer this eco-friendly termite control service to our long-term customers. Clearly, this treatment process is the way the industry is heading – so we are excited to be involved from its inception here in Indonesia.”

Record Bali tourist arrivals, faltering European economy gives boost to door-to-door delivery service to European Union

To save costs, more tourists and smaller retailers turn to You Shop We Ship to send personal goods, excess baggage and high-end merchandise by air freight or consolidated container

Michelle YeohINDONESIA, Oct. 4, 2010 – As the European Union economy slows, more tourists and small retailers are turning to the You Shop We Ship (http://www.YouShopWeShip.org) door-to-door air delivery service to send their excess baggage, shopping treasures and store merchandise from Bali to Europe.

“Tourist arrivals to Bali are at an all time high,” said Eugene Verspoor, general manager of the Export Service Centre (http://www.ExportServiceCentre.com), the social enterprise behind You Shop We Ship.

Bali set a new record for foreign tourist arrivals with 2.2 million in 2009, according to an Oct. 3 report in the Jakarta Post. The government has set a target of receiving up to 2.5 million foreign tourists in 2010, according to the Post.

“Visitors find it hard to resist buying the beautiful products at great prices available here in Bali,” Verspoor said. “However, the challenge they face is how to get their purchases home affordably – without eating up precious holiday time trying to figure it all out.

“In these tough economic times, our service enables visitors to shop in Bali and receive their holiday treasures at home – at a fraction of the cost of sending them as excess baggage or trying to sort out export shipping.”

Door-to-door by air freight, or consolidated sea shipments
“Tourists want to spend their time sightseeing, relaxing on the beach and shopping – not stressing over excess baggage charges or how to deal with export documentation, fumigation, customs clearing and delivery,” said You Shop We Ship manager Anneke Steensma.

“We take the complexity out of getting customers’ goods from Bali to their door – and work with them in English, Dutch, German, French and Bahasa.

“For excess baggage or holiday shopping items under 30 kilograms, most visitors choose our airfreight delivery – it is the fastest and most economical solution, with delivery within 7 days.

“Tourists who want to fit-out their homes with furniture and home décor they buy here at about one third the price – including shipping costs – in Europe generally use our consolidated or even full-container load sea freight service.

“Of course, many retailers use the airfreight service for higher-value items such as leather handbags or silver jewelry,” Steensma said. “For larger home décor they will use our LCL or FCL service.

“We are serving more customers this year compared with last – meaning we are helping more tourist bring some of their vacation experience home with them. We also help create jobs for the local artisans of the products visitors buy – thereby advancing our mission of Aid through Trade.”

More information about You Shop We Ship is available at http://www.YouShopWeShip.org or by visiting the Export Service Centre in Denpasar across from the LOTTE Mart along the by-pass.

Export partnership aims to save children’s lives by promoting nonprofit Asia Injury Prevention Foundation’s Protec helmets worldwide

Global Sources export marketing package to promote tropical bicycle and motorcycle helmets on Global Sources Online and in Global Sources Sports & Leisure and Auto Parts & Accessories trade magazines

Michelle YeohHANOI, August. 31, 2010 – Non-profit Kearny Alliance has partnered with the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation and Global Sources to help save children’s lives by making the Foundation’s Protec brand tropical  bicycle and  motorcycle helmets available to buyers worldwide.

As part of its corporate social responsibility programs, Global Sources (NASDAQ: GSOL) plans to feature Protec helmets on  Global Sources Online and in the Global Sources Sports & Leisure and Auto Parts & Accessories trade magazines.

The purpose of this export marketing promotion is to enable importers to source helmets from  Protec’s Vietnam factory, thereby helping to prevent head injuries and deaths in more countries through increased access to helmets.

The Asia Injury Prevention Foundation notes road traffic accidents are the leading cause of death for young people worldwide between ages 15 and 45, and kill 1.2 million people each year – the majority in Asia and Africa. Southeast Asia is at particular risk because its rapid economic development has resulted in a steep increase of motorized vehicles.

“Our vision is to form a generation of safe road users in countries where the road traffic environments serve the developing economies and people,” said Protec’s deputy general director Na Huong.

“This partnership is a great opportunity for Protec to bring our unique 'tropical' helmets to the global market. Tropical helmets are lightweight, low-cost alternatives to traditional motorcycle helmets. They are very practical for tropical climates – and injury prevention.”

Alexander Boome, Program director of the Kearny Alliance, said: “We are delighted to help facilitate this partnership between Global Sources and the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation.

“We expect this to advance our mission of Aid through Trade: The more helmets Protec exports through this program, the more jobs it can create in its Hanoi factory, where it has allocated 20 percent of jobs to disabled workers. Also, a major benefit is the lives that can be saved, as more people have access to quality, affordable helmets.”

About The Kearny Alliance
The Kearny Alliance, a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) foundation based in Scottsdale, Arizona, partners with other international organizations to further its mission of ‘Aid through Trade’, to advance international development and poverty alleviation through trade-related business, education, training and applied research.

 Key programmatic areas include:

  • Livelihood development at the grassroots level: Through the social enterprise  Export Service Centre in Indonesia and Cambodia, the Kearny Alliance assists small producers who do not have the capacity to export direct to participate in the global economy. It estimates that in 2009 it created more than 3,800 jobs.

  • Job creation for small & medium producers: Through the  Developing Country Export Assistance Program, the Kearny Alliance connects smaller exporters in developing Asia with buyers worldwide. Surveys of beneficiaries show that suppliers have received $440,000 in export orders, and they expect more than $5,000,000 to develop in 2010.

  • Education & skills development: The Kearny Alliance offers stipend support for students from Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and mainland China to study in Hong Kong and the US. The dozens of Kearny Alliance Scholars receive internships and on-the-job training in export-related companies and organizations in 10 countries.

  • Trade policy research: One major initiative is FutureofUSChinaTrade.Com, an online center for data, analysis, and insightful discussion on U.S. - China trade offering Forum Discussions News & Analysis, Facts & Figures, Discussion Outcomes, Book reviews and Meet the Experts. This developed from the The Kearny Alliance – Arizona State University forums on China, trade and the world economic order high-level series of interlinked meetings – held in Phoenix and Beijing which explored potential solutions to issues and challenges of mutual benefit to China-US trade relations.
